ClipPeak started from a simple frustration: someone sends you a .clip file, and you can't open it without installing a large drawing program. We built a viewer that understands the format and runs in any browser.
How it works
A .clip file contains a database describing every layer, and compressed tiles of pixels. ClipPeak reads both, then composites the layers with the same blending, masking and clipping rules Clip Studio Paint uses. Rendering runs in parallel background workers, so even large illustrations open quickly. We continuously compare the output with Clip Studio Paint's own rendering.
Open source thanks
ClipPeak builds on the work of the community that documented the format, in particular the open-source projects clip_to_psd, clipfile-rs, clip-tools and clipdecode, and uses sql.js, fflate and ag-psd. The sample file is from Kazuhito00/clip_studio_paint_tool (MIT licence).
